Life is messy and having a supportive community is important! I'm that mom who started the local homeschool commonwealth, and who regularly organizes field trips for everyone to get to know each other better in the community. I have five boys, from 2 to 12 years old, and one very supportive husband. We are LDS. I am going back to school at BYU for my bachelors in Neuroscience, so momni popping up right now feels like a godsend. I love learning about the brain and the mind and emotions, how it all ties together. I love ballet, classical music, painting, writing, running, and reading. I am the author of the middle grade superhero novel Drats, Foiled Again! What our home is like: We love animals so we have quite a few of them: dogs, cats, and chickens--all very safe with new people and children. We love children, too, the more the merrier! In our house there are walls of books, a piano, a keyboard, a guitar, and a room full of toys. My oldest loves robots and last year I coached his Lego robotics team. Learning is happening all the time, any hour of the day, and you are welcome to join in. We subscribe to the philosophy in A Thomas Jefferson Education by Oliver Demille, which looks like delight-led learning in the early ages and more rigorous challenges in the older years. Our family motto is, "If you want to have a happy life, do hard things." I am experienced as a mentor to all ages, so if you'd like to leave me with a book, lesson, or task to support your child's learning, I would be delighted to play governness for the day, or hour. My husband works from home for a California-based company, which afford us the flexibility to support each member of the family in his or her various interests. We love having him around, though he generally works the standard 8-to-5 hours. We look forward to getting to know you and your family!
